The Howard County LGBTQIA+ Commission proudly joins this year's Hope Bowl, supporting HopeWorks' vital mission to aid individuals impacted by sexual and intimate partner violence (IPV) in Howard County. We also aim to spotlight intimate partner violence (IPV) within the LGBTQIA+ community.

Despite affecting individuals of all backgrounds, IPV disproportionately harms marginalized groups like LGBTQIA+ individuals due to intersecting discrimination and stigma. The Commission stands against societal biases and vulnerabilities exploited by abusers, perpetuating control through homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, and heterosexism. Many LGBTQIA+ survivors face real barriers in seeking help, from limited access to affirming services to fears of encountering anti-LGBTQIA+ stigma.

Reaffirming our commitment to combatting IPV, the Howard County LGBTQIA+ Commission is participating in HopeWorks’ Hope Bowl this year. We envision a community where all individuals can thrive without fear of violence. Together, we strive to foster empowerment, support, and acceptance for LGBTQIA+ survivors of IPV.
