October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Our neighbors, friends, family, and community members that are impacted by sexual assault and domestic violence need our help and support. In Howard County, the place many of them turn to is HopeWorks. HopeWorks is a non-profit agency providing vital services to women, men, and children impacted by sexual assault, and domestic violence. At HopeWorks our mission is to provide support and advocacy for people in Howard County affected by sexual and intimate partner violence and engage the community in creating the change required for prevention.

A little about HopeWorks:

HopeWorks has served the Howard County community for over 47 years by supporting and advocating for people affected by sexual and intimate partner violence. Last year almost 2,780 survivors found the safety and support they needed to break free from violence.

By joining together as a community, we can ensure that HopeWorks can continue to provide crisis intervention and long-term wellness programs for survivors, community outreach, and prevention education.

Your donation goes directly to support the following services:
• Sexual and Intimate Partner Violence 24-Hour Hotline
• Emergency shelter and longer-term transitional housing
• Crisis and on-going counseling to adults and children
• Hospital accompaniment and advocacy services
• Legal representation enabling clients to obtain Civil Orders of Protection
• Awareness, prevention, and wellness programs addressing the root causes of violence
Every donation has a big impact and helps us achieve our mission:
• $25 staffs our 24-Hour Crisis Hotline for one hour.
• $50 reaches a child in need through our prevention education programs.
• $150 covers one in-person hospital advocate response.
• $500 supports a week-long stay in our Safe House emergency shelter
We have dedicated staff, volunteers, and board to serve our neighbors in need. As President of the Board of Directors I am asking for your help so we can continue to provide the services that we have provided for the past 47 years. No donation is too small to make a difference. Any amount you can give helps HopeWorks continue to provide life-changing services to people seeking safety, and prevention programs that benefit our whole community. Please join me during the month of October in supporting our virtual fundraiser, The Purple Challenge.
