Grounded in transformative cultural change, the Community Engagement Department (CED) addresses the root causes of sexual and intimate partner violence through primary prevention efforts, tertiary prevention programs, building awareness and cultivating community leadership.
We seek to engage marginalized communities – our own and others – in efforts to shift focus, add perspective, and generate both the theory and practice of holistic, anti-oppression-based sexual and intimate partner violence prevention.
The basic tools of the CED include the facilitation of prevention education and professional training programs, programming for survivors, community wellness and social justice projects, management of the volunteer program, hosting collaborative and special event events, and the use of print/electronic communications.
